A porn MEGAstar and a politician JOIN FORCES for a GREAT Civil Rights cause! Vote YES on AB5
March 1, 2019PNT commentary: Today was downright historical as the President of the Adult Performers Actors Guild Union (porn megastar Alana Evans) teamed up with Civil Rights politician California Assemblywoman Lorena S. Gonzalez to speak at a protest in regards to why Assembly Bill 5 is necessary to protect adult film stars and exotic dancers.
Alana Evans noted that from her perspective it seemed rather odd that there were women attending the protest from San Diego strip clubs (that likely rake in approximately $2K a week) holding signs that stated that “Employee Status” equated “slavery” (as in actuality it does NOT. Ironically Alana’s peer Stormy Daniels said something similar not too long ago which Alana had to correct in an interview).
Were the aforementioned women from the San Diego strip clubs “paid off” by club owners seeking to squelch the bill and prevent adult worker unionization? Who knows… But regardless the Porn News Today Collective strongly encourages Alana Evans to CONTINUE to get involved in the “mainstream” political realm – as she embodies the passion, the intelligence and the voice (which is over 90% of what it takes to succeed as a politician).

Standing alongside Assemblyperson @LorenaSGonzalez as I spoke on why #YesOnAB5 is necessary to protect adult film stars and exotic dancers was an honor.

Today’s protest included girls from a strip club here in San Diego. These were the kind of signs they held… a blond exotic dancer, who likely makes $2,000+ a week holding a sign that says Employee Status=slavery … No, it doesn’t. #YesOnAB5 pic.twitter.com/i3NhQYuRKr

As these dancers held signs that said #mybodymychoice their leader slut shamed me for being a porn star while the news was filming… apparently it’s not MY BODY MY CHOICE, just theirs #YesOnAB5

I spoke with 2 dancers who want to be employees and want to unionize . And I got to finally meet @alanaevansxxx who is working hard to empower adult performers to know their rights. She was amazing! 4/

If journalists want to cover this, they should do more than use it as click bait. I would’ve liked them to ask about the sign that read “Employee Status = Slavery” — I mean the absurdity of that sign sums it up. No rational debate about misclassification of workers starts there.

Some thoughts on today. The dancers were clear, they were sent by their employers to protest #AB5 (although they weren’t paid for their time, as they would be if they were not misclassified.) They didn’t know their employee status was actually made clear in law years ago.1/ pic.twitter.com/dmkRB0mowc

They have been told 2 important lies by their employers. 1) that as employees they won’t be able to have flexible hours, that they’d have to work from 9-5 AND 2) that their employer would be forced to pay them only minimum wage. 2/

I also got to speak with a dancer who worker for Pacers in the 90s when they were properly classified as employees, she said she loved getting a weekly paycheck & she still had flexibility. The club switched them to IC when they tried to organize into a union. 3/

Watching Assemblyperson @LorenaSGonzalez today, learning her views and watching her work so hard for us, I want to tell my followers to give her a follow. She will be a leader to watch here in California, and maybe one day, our nation!
